It is snowing in Georgia – SNOWING, yes I said SNOWING!!! Don’t laugh, but we just get so excited every 11 years or so when this occurs, we are absolutely beside ourselves. I know some of you are so used to snow (real snow) but we are NOT – not here in the middle of the state where I live, otherwise known as the coastal plain. Here are some pictures:
This picture above is right off my back patio…see that “giant blob” right above my birdbath? WOW! Now that is a big snowflake π The daffodils are bravely holding their heads high, because it will probably be 70 degrees by Tuesday or Thursday…
This picture above is from my front porch looking out to our pecan grove and then to the farm across the street. The snow began this morning while we were at church. Folks were headed to Morning Worship after our Bible Study classes. It was coming down so fast and the flakes were so big and beautiful. People were running outside and taking pictures! Silly? Yes! Southern? Even more so!
Now this snow is NOT sticking to anything, but it is so beautiful nonetheless. I just wanted to share with you the joy of our rare occurrence, especially with Spring 3 weeks from today! I’m headed back to get in front of the fireplace and study a little more before my Esther class tonight!
It’s a Snowy Day in Georgia!
But the greatest joy is that Jesus has washed our sins whiter than snow. Now snow is white and I mean WHITE, but Jesus said our scarlet sins will be as white as snow! I rejoice in that on this snowy day in Georgia.
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow…
Much Love, Jan
It was so much fun to see all of those snowflakes! I believe I live even further south in the Peach State than you do and I jump up and down like a kid every time I see some! My baby sister and her family just recently moved to North Carolina to seminary, so she’s seen snow several times the last few months.
I think God looks down on us with a huge grin when we’re running around going crazy over a few flakes. It’s one of his little ways of bringing us unexpected pleasure!
I was just warming up from being so cold…and then I read your post π
Love you!
Yes, I need those “white as snow” reminders too. Nothing like a fresh blanket of snow to do it.
All we got was cold rain, but I guess can praise Him for that too!
Your sweet Zeke is 5 days older than my Andy…born Aug. 22. They are GRAND are’n’t they?! I would love to get together in Nashville! Just tell me where and when!
I love love love these pictures. Honey, we got 13 inches in TN! We were stunned. Its still on the ground…and, i’m ready for it to skidaddle along. Please come quickly, Spring. π
Hope you have a wonderful week!
What a blessing you are.
Hugs,
Fran
Love where you live! How beautiful!
Praise Jesus we are whiter than snow.
Much love,
Angela
Dear Ms. Jan,
I’ve been a “lurker” to your blog for awhile, but just had to comment about your choice of scripture in reference to the snow. I live in Mississippi and snow is a very rare occurance for us as well, so when it hit us late Saturday afternoon, we too, were beside ourselves! Doors flung open, cameras came out, and the awe and wonder began! My thoughts went to the same scripture in Isaiah (1:18) you posted. I teach a women’s SS class and we started studying the book of Isaiah Sunday. Having already been in the first 5 chapters of that book all week, how blessed, how cherished of the Lord I felt, as I watched Him pour out a picture of His teaching to me. Isn’t that not just like Him? I too, am a pastor’s wife, currently enduring, along with my sweet husband, great difficulty in ministry…that little “snow show” did a world of good to this hurting heart. How great is our God! Just wanted you to know I was rejoicing with you and to say great big AMEN!
I am a new grandmother (Nana!) of six months…another reason I love to visit your blog! You’ll have to come over and see the little one who holds my heart in his chubby little hands!
Tammie
Jan,
I had no idea that you rarerly see snow. We usually have quite a bit, but it is scarce this year and we are in desperate need of some rain/snow.
I love when you share your world with us!
Lovingly and Praising that He covers us with His WHITE-ness.
Yolanda
Your pictures are beautiful!! I love that you have a pecan grove!
God is so good to delight us with snow. π
I watched session 6 yesterday and it was powerful!!
BTW…I may have you do me a favor when the Georgia peaches come in, I wonder if you can mail me some?!
Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog and you have helped me more than you know and I feel the prayers!!
Love you,
Patty
Snow always turns me into a big ole kid…
Wish it would cover and show us just how white it is!
